Representative Eddie Lucio, III is connected to the people of the Rio Grande Valley and the challenges they face everyday.

Since his election to the Texas House of Representatives in 2006, Eddie has been innovative, persistent, and has put partisanship aside, bringing people together to get things done for the Valley.

As a member of the Texas Legislature, he has continued to work hard to fight for all the hard working men and women of South Texas and will not stop trying to improve our quality of life.

Eddie was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, where he practices law and lives with his family. He received a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2005, he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law.

In 2006, Lucio was elected to the Texas House of Representatives, District 38, and was overwhelmingly re-elected in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014.

During his four sessions in the Legislature, Rep. Lucio has worked diligently to attain passage of significant legislation that not only benefits his district and the Rio Grande Valley, but the entire State of Texas, while serving on a number prestigious committees.  His accomplishments encompass areas that are essential to the development and long-term interests of South Texas, including: the push for a South Texas medical school, the establishment of a Medicaid Buy-In Program, the expansion of insurance coverage for children with autism, providing college credit for military service and the establishment energy efficiency standards for state facilities.

Rep. Lucio currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Calendars committee, the Natural Resources committee, the Federalism and Fiscal Responsibility (Select) committee, and the Special Purpose Districts committee.

Through his work and with the support of his constituents, Eddie is extremely humbled by the faith and support of the people of District 38 and is committed to continue bringing about real progress for the Rio Grande Valley.

Rep. Lucio is an attorney with The Lucio III Group, PLLC (www.TheLucioIIIGroup.com) practicing in the areas of Probate, Wills/Trust/Estate Planning and Family, and Water Law.  He is the city attorney for the City of Rio Hondo, TX and is Of Counsel to Beatty, Bangle, Strama P.C.

He is the son of State Senator & Mrs. Eddie Lucio, Jr., and is married to Jaime Barrera Lucio of Brownsville.  He and his wife welcomed their first child, Olivia Rose, in August of 2009 and their second child Eduardo A. (Luc) Lucio, IV in June 2013.
